After scrolling through countless mentions of Verb Energy Bars on my social media feed and avoiding the urge to look further into them, I finally caved and decided to try them out for myself. Upon first hearing about Verb bars, I was shocked at the concept of caffeinated bars that people are even substituting for their daily coffee. Verb’s claim is that each energy bar contains 90 calories and each bar has as much caffeine as a shot of espresso.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think anything could wake me up like my daily coffee AND with less calories! I decided to try out three flavors, so I didn’t just get one flavor I didn’t like and rule out the brand as a whole. I was surprised at how many flavor options there were to choose from, but ultimately, I went with Lemon Raspberry, Vanilla Latte, and Cookie Butter. I have never been a huge fan of protein bars, so I was hesitant all the way up until the point of them arriving. My first reaction was that the packaging was absolutely adorable AND I am happy to say the inside was even better - they are SO yummy.

WHO IS VERB?

Verb is a small company that stemmed from an experiment done by three Yale students, Matt Czarnecki, Andre Monteiro, and Bennett Byerley, in their dorm room. The students felt cheated by the price of coffee and wished there was a healthier and cheaper alternative. After over a hundred failed attempts at creating an alternative themselves, they finally had their winner and called them Verb Energy Bars.

Verb Energy Bars are also very inclusive to those with dietary restrictions. They are gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan. Verb’s main ingredients are oats, nut butters, almond and peanut butter, organic agave, organic quinoa, and organic green tea caffeine. Verb claims that the caffeine level of these bars is just enough to wake you up without giving you the jittery feeling. The nut butters in and quinoa add a little bit of protein. A protein shake AND a coffee in one bar?! Count me in. Verb also uses a small amount of brown sugar in the bars to add a hint of sweetness without overpowering it or undermining the health factor of the bars. The creators of Verb were intentional when choosing green tea as their caffeine provider. They wanted these bars to have the benefits of green tea such as reducing stress and anxiety levels, while still giving your body energy to have a productive day.

THE VERDICT IS…

We love these!!! My family and I fight over them every day and we have chosen our favorite flavors and hoard them from each other (lol). I am a huge coffee drinker, so I was hesitant on the idea that the bars would get the job done. I was pleasantly surprised that these little bars gave me the boost of energy I needed to get me through my workday! Verb Energy Bars aren’t meant to be substituted for a meal, but rather for an extra boost if you feel yourself lagging in the late afternoon. The combination of sugar and caffeine is just what I need to help wake me up! These are great if you are in a time crunch and can’t carry around a tea or be sipping on something for too long. I will definitely be repurchasing Verb Energy Bars very soon!
